Description

Operation Infatuate II

This book describes the Allied Operation Infatuate II, the final act of the Battle of the Scheldt that began on November 1, 1944 with the landings of British, Norwegian and Belgian commandos on the coast of Walcheren near Westkapelle. Part of the invasion troops advanced through the southern dune area in the direction of Vlissingen to eliminate the German coastal batteries, while a second force fought its way to the wooded northwest of Walcheren. After a week of heavy fighting, Operation Infatuate II ended on 8 November with the capitulation of the last German troops at Vrouwenpolder.
