Town of Minden - Introduction to the most important structures. Volume 2: Fortress and Monuments
Author: Kaspar, Fred & Korn, Ulf-Dietrich

Language: German

History and description of the town defences and fortifications of the German town of Minden.

Description

Truely MASSIVE book - counting almost 1000 pages, more than 600 illustrations and weighing over 3.1 Kgs.! - about the history of the town defences, fortifications and other military buildings of the German town of Minden. From the late Middle Ages to the end in the 19th century as well as their further fate until the present.

The book starts out with a description of the town defences and their development until the 30-Year War and what's left of them.

Most of the contents of the book, however, is about the fortifications and other military buildings of Minden that were originally built in the 19th century. The book contains an inventory of all that was built and what's left of it. Each and every building - wall, tower, gate, fort, battery, barrack, and every other type of building you can think of - you will find it in this book. THE reference book on the military buildings - but most of all: fortifications! - of Minden. The book contains 4 large folding maps in the back of the fortifications of Minden. A GREAT book!!

The book is in VERY GOOD shape - the DJ has some small tears.
