Truely MAGNIFICENT book on the fortifications of the Italian city of Genoa (Genova), with emphasis on those built in the late 18th and 19th century (by the French and Savoians). After a short descriptions of the development of the fortifications of Genoa, the author starts with a thorough and detailed description of the individual fortifications. Famous names like the Forti Belvedere, Crocetta, Tenaglia, Begato, Puin, Diamante and Quezzi (amongst other!) - but also the gates (Porta) Pila, San Bartolomeo, and San Bernardino and Granarolo. Last but not least Torre della Lanterna (The Tower of the Lantern) is described. Written entirely in Italian, the book is illustrated with more than 200 photos, drawings, plans and maps - of which some in full-colour. A GREAT book on the Genoves fortifications - the best published so far. It is in VERY GOOD shape. EXTREMELY RARE!!
