The book describes the history and characteristics of the German Westwall / Siegfried Line. But it is meant to be a tourguide for anyone that wnats to find and visit the remaining bunkers, tunnels and obstacles of this vast defenceline that was built in the 1930's. After a short history of the Westwall and a description of its components, the 3 authors - all experts on the subject! - start off with describing the remaining structures of the Westwall. Of each object they describe its original purpose, when it was constructed and where it is located. The characteristics of each object are described in detail and photos, drawings and floorplans are supplied too, as well as details on the owners and how to contact them. All in all, this is a VERY valuable book for anyone that wants to find the remains of the Westwall - but also for all the armchair-travellers amongst us. The book is written in German entirely and illustrated with MANY HUNDREDS of photos, drawings, plans and maps. It is AS NEW! |
