Language: Italian

The book describes the history and characteristics of the famous Battery of Chaberton. an Italian artillery position in the mountains south of Bardonecchia.

Description

Pier Giorgio Corino's new book on the Italian Battery of Chaberton and the military position of Cesana. The battery was built in the border region with France, just east of the French town of Briançon and ca. 12 km south of Bardonecchia. the battery is famous because of its characteristic round towers / cylinders (8 of them), on top of which 8 guns of 14.9 cm calibre were placed.

Construction of the battery was started in 1898 and it took until 1913 to finish it. The book was heavily damaged in the battle of the Alps in June 1940 - in fact it was almost destroyed completely.  The book also shows other fortifications in the same area.

The book is written in Italian and illustrated with HUNDREDS of photos, drawings, plans and maps - mostly in full-colour and many previously unpublished. If you know the other books by Corino, you will find the same high quality standards of them in this book.
