The book is a very detailed description of the (bastioned) fortifications built by the Spanish in Venezuela - mainly in the 18th century. It is written by THE expert on the subject of Spanish fortifications in Central and South America, Juan Manuel Zapatero. Zapatero describes the fortifications of that region in general, but the true strength of this book lies in the descriptions of the architectural details and present status of the individual fortifications - the forts, batteries, etc., which he describes in great detail. He also provides much information on the designers and builders of the fortifications of Puerto Cabello. The book is written in Spanish entirely and is illustrated with ca. 50 photos, plans, drawings and maps. The book is VERY RARE and in VERY GOOD shape. |
