The so-called "Panzerfesten" (armoured forts) of Metz represent THE highlight of German fortification of the period 1870-1918. The second part of the book describes the individual fortifications in great detail, using photos, floorplans, drawings and maps. This part is divided in 3 chapters - the fortifications of the inner ring, the fortifications of the outer ring and the batteries in the east.
