The book describes the 35 forts that were built by the German troops in Southwest Africa between 1884 and 1915.
The Germans were present in Southwest Africa (now Namibia) for a relatively short period - between 1884 and 1915. To be able to defend themselves against enemy attack they built 35 forts and defenceworks. These forts are described in great detail in this book. The book is written in German entirely and is illustrated with more than 250 photos, plans, drawings and maps. Most of the forts have disappeared now, but some are quite famous - for instance "die Alte Feste" in Windhoek and Fort Namutoni in National Park Etoscha. |
