The book describes the history of and the happenings at the German strongpoint of Pointe du Hoc in Normandy, France - from its construction to D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Description

On June 6, 1944 225 American Rangers landed on the beach in front of the more than 30 meter-high clif of the Pointe du Hoc in Normandy, France. Their goal was to to take the coastal battery on top of the clif - the battery with is 15,5 cm guns that could seriously endanger the landings at Omaha Beachhead.

The book tells the history of this famous German strongpoint and coastal battery, from its construction to its surrender in June 1944. Again, Von Keusgen has succeeded in finding eyewitnesses - German veterans as well as French civilians who were there when it all happened.

The book is not only a detailed description of the Atlantic Wall fortifications, but also of the happenings before, during and right after the landings. It is written in German and is illustrated with HUNDREDS of photos, plans, drawings and maps. The present-day photos as well as the bunkerplans and maps are in colour. Many of the contemporary wartime photos are from private archives and never published before.
