After a short introduction on general considerations, he starts describing the different elements of field fortification - trenches, dug-outs, batteries,redoubts, fortified villages, etc. He also describes some famous examples of "Champs de Batailles fortifiés" - Allerheim, Fontenoy, Caldiero and Borodino.

The book is written in French entirely and illustrated with 9 folding plates with 27 illustrations. Book and plates are in GOOD shape. VERY RARE!!
