The book contains detailed descriptions of the coastal fortifications and defences that were built between the 17th and 19th century in Normandy France - including the islands of Tatihou, Saint-Marcouf and the coast of La Hougue.

The book is divided in 3 parts. First part is a general introduction about 200 years of coastal defences in Normandy. The second part of the book describes the fortifications along the coast of La Hougue, including the islands of Tatihou and Saint-Marcouf. Third and last part of the book describes the visible fortifications in the departement de la Manche. (La Hougue, Cherbourg and Granville).

The book is written in French and illustrated with HUNDREDS of photos, plans, drawings and maps - of which many in colour. Only 1230 copies were printed of this fine book. VERY RARE!!
