BRANDNEW publication in 2 hardcover-volumes about the Atlantic Wall fortifications of World War Two in the northern part of Jutland, Denmark.
Two volumes totaling 600 pages (320 + 280 pages), richly illustrated with old and brand new photos. Volume 1 has the subtitle "Hitler's War and the Fortification of North Jutland" and deals with the military side of the "Atlantvolden" development 1940-45. Volume 2 carries the subtitle "People and afterlife". It deals with eg. the impact of construction on the Danes in North Jutland (fortification workers and civilian population) as well as the development of the view of the German bunkers after the war and their use in different ways - not least the use of "Bangsbofort" as part of the Danish defense. The book is the result of nearly three years of concentrated collaboration between three Northern Jutland museums, Museum Thy, Vendsyssel Historical Museum and North Jutland's Coastal Museum and Aalborg University as part of a joint project in the Velux Foundation's Museum initiative. |
