This book tells the history of the "Zuidbatterij", a coastal battery built by the Dutch army on the island of Texel (north of Den Helder). This battery - originally named "1e Batterij 12L40 - was taken over by the German army after the invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940 who modernized and strengthened the battery to "Batterie Texel-Süd" as part of the Atlantikwall.
